The First Battle of the Somme 1918 formed part of the major series of operations that halted Operation Michael. This AAR focuses on one small part of that battle, specifically the introduction of the New Zealand Division into the defensive line on 26 March. The New Zealand involvement has great significance for our family though, as my maternal grandfather was part of the NZ Machine Gun Corps.
