Turn 1 saw IR 49 (top left) and IR 140 (top centre) enter the table in columns of company along the respective roads. The objective for IR 140 was to reach Colincamps, bottom right of centre in this photo. RIR 81 should have been marching down the third road past Beaumont Hamel (top right). It never made an appearance.
