Every year, Baccus hosts the Joy of Six show in Sheffield, England. This year (2018) corresponded almost exactly with the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Matz. We took the opportunity to replay this battle. There was more table space so we set up the whole battlefield, which covered two 4’x6’ tables - one set at right angles to the other. What follows is a series of photographs from the game, linked to several quotes from German sources. These quotes illustrate what it was like for the German defenders facing the often maligned French Schneider and St Chamond tanks.
