The lead French infantry company comes under German machine gun fire on the road. The Litko marker indicates that the French company has been suppressed. It is unable to move or fire, having been forced to take cover by the beaten zones from six machine guns in the German MG company.

Top right, two of the French artillery regiments are deploying in defilade cover. Forward observation teams will deploy forwards to the ridge line. From there, the teams should be able to direct a fauchage (sweeping fire) from the massed guns.
