Cavalry mix it up

The Russian commander recognised that the key to his success lay on the right flank. The cavalry were ordered to deploy and charge. The light was starting to fade and there was no hope of redeploying the cavalry to push through the hole in the German lines. Straight ahead was the call and the Russian sotna poured over the ridge. There were some local successes, due mainly to the effect of surprise. The manoeuvre looked impressive and drew some gasps of admiration from onlookers. The German infantry and cavalry held though.
