In this view, the German cavalry have reached the northern edge of their forest sector. Here they are confronted by several battalions of Russian infantry. A regiment of Russian field artillery has just deployed in a ploughed field. The fire fight features Russian rifles and machine guns versus German carbines. At such short ranges, the differences in rifle and carbine fire are minimal. The problem for the Germans is that cavalry regiments are significantly smaller than their infantry colleagues. This shouldn’t be a problem for the cavalry in this scenario though as they are distributed in depth.
